Can't add too much to what has already been stated here. It is a fantastic sounding cartridge, to me seems real neutral, not focusing on any particular frequency. Was an upgrade in the bass department over my prior AT cartridge which was an older model and really seemed to lack bass. Sound is clear and detailed. Awesome to get such a nice cartridge for such a great price. So glad that AT is still making these P Mount cartridges. I would be half tempted to buy a second one as a spare in case AT was to discontinue this model.

I have this drive for about half-a year now. It is recognized both by Windows XP and Mac OS X (Leopard). I did not use any software to do backups, just grab the files myself and drag them to the drive, or use a script (.bat file). Operation is exceptionally simple: you connect it - it is recognized by the computer, you use it, and then use disconnect/eject command (I am guilty of not always doing this, but no problems so far) and disconnect it. The drive comes in a soft case, does not have and require any power supply, works via USB cable, and no problems whatsoever so far. I am thinking about buying another one, maybe slightly bigger (there is a 320G version).

No review for the included software. Since most of my experience with softwares that comes with products like camera, external drives are rarely satisfactory, software was not installed in the first place.

Speck MB15AU-SAT-YEL-01 Review by ksrp (New York)

I am revising my review from a 1 star to 5 star rating! speck has apparently modified the product to eliminate my issue that it did not fit the new, 2010 MBP 15".

This product has been modified to perfectly fit the 2010 15" MBP. The revised ones have a blue sticker on the box right-hand side about midway down which says "Yep, it fits! the new MacBook Pro with 90 degree MagSafe."

I did buy it in person at the Apple Store though. They appear to have new stock of the product which has this sticker. I can't say for sure if Amazon has this new, revised model in stock OR if they have older model. If you order online, etc. from Amazon or Apple and it doesn't have this sticker I'd return it for one that does.

And, it works and looks great!! Just as advertised. I got the black, SeeThru Satin. I like the extra "grip" that the Satin variety/model supplies. Less likely to slip out of your hand than their non-Satin model (which I personally find very attractive visually but, a bit too slippery) - especially at the airport where you are constantly taking your laptop in and out of your baggage. Highly recommended. Easy to install or remove.

They have also modified their regular, SeeThru product line as well. The ones that fit the April 2010 model have the same blue sticker as noted above.

Kudos to speck for addressing this issue!

Again, owners of the newer 2010 MBP MUST look for ones that have this blue sticker. However, this is not at all an issue for owners of earlier MBPs. All models will fit it.

DO NOT BUY ANY OF THE SPECK PRODUCTS IF YOU HAVE A NEW APRIL, 2010 MBP!!!!!!!!!!!

There is a design issue with the back left clip on the bottom cover. It sticks out too far for the new horizontal Mac A/C adapter to fit properly into the slot. The problem is the same for both their See Thru Satin and Soft Touch Hard Shell lines. Apple is now delivering with the April, 2010 MBP a new style power adapter like the ones that came with the air books. And because of the tang that snaps on to the left back corner of machine it will not properly connect when the Speck case is attached without turning the connector toward the ports and thus it blocks the Ethernet port. SO unless you have a previous power block the frustration begins. Speck will have to redesign the way the case snaps onto the MBP.

I contacted Speck and they are aware of this problem and they say they are working on a new design.

Speck replied:

"Yes our cases will fit however the power cord is now horizontal and not vertical so it interferes with the case by about 1 mm. It will charge but at a slight angle. You can run the cord forward but it will block some ports. I have no ETA on when an out of the box perfect case fit will be released by us by some customers have slightly modified the case with a metal nail file, Dremel or Exacto knife and it works fine."

Personally, I'm not making this a DIY project. Especially when you could ruin a $50 case in the process.

I will re-post once they have a satisfactory solution to this issue.

I've never bought a product that gets more attention than this case for my macbook pro. I can't even sit in a coffee shop for more than a few minutes without someone asking "what mac is that?", "Is that a cover?". Needless to say, it gets lots of attention, it protects the finish on my machine perfectly, and it makes all necessary connections accessible. Did I mention the suede like finish is not only sexy, but it feels good, because it does. And cleaning is no problem, clorox wipes or screen wipes do the trick. Worth it to get this one that some of the cheaper, non-sexy models. Easy-to-install as well.

I purchased this for my college age daughter. It fits her 15" MacBook perfectly and keeps it in the pristine condition that she appreciates. Speck suggests that you remove the cover occassionally to clean it. On one such cleaning one of the tabs that keeps the cover secure on the Mac broke off. I contacted Speck who requested a proof of purchase and a photo of the broken tab. They overnighted a new case that day. All correspondence was kind and gracious; a real pleasure to deal with.

Keyboard's not bad. Looks good since it harks back to the days when there weren't all the silly multimedia keys (like volume, internet, etc). The logo also happens to be IBM which was surprising since IBM no longer sells PC's -- so the keyboard looks like the one in the picture.

I deducted one star because the keys are mushier than I'd like. Compared to the standard dell keyboards, this ibm keyboard's keys don't have as much of a snap to them. Additionally the keys are very quiet (as compared to the dell's), which may contribute the the perception of mushiness.

IBM 40K9584 Review by J. Wells

As the previous reviewer said, this is an IBM classic keyboard. Kinda. Stupid "wrist-rest" is a separate piece and you can immediately dump it in trash as I did. Both ENTER keys are midnight blue not black (hard to tell from the pic). Does *NOT* work with a USB to PS/2 connector (connection must be USB). Not as heavy as a old fashioned IBM keyboard. Very quiet compared to my old DELL "Quiet Key" keyboard. My main complaint is that even with the legs/props extended in back (is 1/2 inch high in front & with extensions ~2 3/4 in back), the keyboard feels too flat to me (it's a lot like a Compaq keyboard). The "Rohs Compliant, IBM Standard Layout, PS2 Keyboard In Black" is MUCH more like the traditional large, heavy, click-y, IBM keyboard of yore (and I sooo much prefer it).

This product is everything I want in a keyboard. It has a standard layout (well, plus the three extra "Windows keys") with none of the nonsensical mucking about seen on recent "ergonomic" keyboard designs. Excellent action, shallow but firm, with relatively little noise. Simple design with (thankfully) removable wrist-rest.

I'm tempted to order two more because it's so hard to find a proper keyboard these days.

The base of this thing is comprised of three parts, a top rubber cover, an aluminum insert, and a rubber/plastic friction base. It's easy to tell since the rubber cover was already peeling away from the rest of it when I received it. The friction base is really not very sticky at all and combined with the lightness of the mount, it sends to shimmy around on the dash while driving, particularly if the road is at all rough or bumpy.

I ordered this unit as I believe the bean-bag type mounts are atrociously big and ugly. I still believe that's the case, but I'm now ready to accept that as an worthwhile trade-off for actual functionality.

FWIW, the garmin unit I'm using is a 295w, so it is relatively smaller and lighter than typical units (137g vs 173g for the 265WT or 221g for the 1490T) which probably has some influence on performance but likely not a game changing one.

UPDATE - I replaced this with the Garmin bean bag mount 010-10908-00 which is absolutely solid and performs perfectly

I have an 09 Honda Odyssey which has a large dash. I did not want to use the suction type holders on the van because it would have been to far to reach to touch the screen because of the way the windshield and dash are designed. I also do not like cleaning the suction rings that get left behind on the inside of the windshield and did not want to pay the big bucks for a name brand dash pad so I bought this instead.

In two words: It works. It's not the prettiest thing or of the best quality but it does its job. The things I do not like about this mount is that the mount base (where it meets the rubber pad) is not secure. Sometimes I have to push it down to keep it flat because it'll pop up when I move or take the GPS off the ball hook. Also the rubber pad is too easily moldable. Some may like this but I do not. I want mines flat to fit my dash.

I bought this as a gift for my girlfriend (I know, real romantic, right?) and was a bit hesitant at first, but decided against spending the extra money for the Garmin brand one. I'm glad I did. The quality seems adequate, and I don't see this falling apart anytime soon. So far, it holds up to normal driving scenarios and doesn't move at all on the dashboard. She has a saturn, which has a large dome over the steering wheel, so I molded this to fit in the corner of the dome where it meets the flat dash, otherwise it would be too far away. It keeps its shape and stays in place, so I couldn't ask for much more than that. Definitely a good buy!

I've owned my Yepp for over 6 months and have had no problem whatsoever. Previous user reports helped me to choose the Yepp, as I was looking for a unit that was very compact and could still produce quality sound. The included earbuds will want to be replaced, as is with most portable units these days, but the sound is very good with replacements. The controls are very easy to use, and include playback and shuffle modes, 8 different EQ settings and bass boost, and even has settings to adjust scroll speed, contrast, and backlight timer for maximum battery life, which varies greatly on the volume setting. I've gotten over 6 hours on the one AAA battery the unit uses. It comes with a rechargable, but I've used Duracell's since that ran out of juice. The backlight is bright and easy to read with the artist and song title scrolled out for you. The unit comes with a belt clip (looks like a pager when worn) or you can wear it around your neck with the included lanyard. This is a great unit for exercising, as I wear mine hiking, biking, doing chores... anything you can think of. Great little unit.

In trying to research info on this model, the manual said it was upgradeable but I don't think that means the memory. Looks like it might take an SD card in the battery compartment but the manual says nothing about upgrading the memory, just the functions. (something to do with CODEX upgrades) that you can download free from their website: samsungyepp.com. Was considering buying one off ebay but 64mb just isn't worth the money if it only holds about 20 songs max.

I have very curly frizzy (ethnic) hair. I had been chemically straightening it, but switched to this product in hopes of damaging my hair less. I'e been using it over a year. It only relaxes my hair a little bit. So while it's less damging than chemical straightening, I have to use the flat iron every day, which damages it more. With chemical straightening I did not have to use a flat iron because it really relaxed my hair. I think if someone's hair was only somewhat curly and frizzy this product alone might be good enough.

It does what it says, I've done almost every keratin treatment there is over the last 3 years, & this one works great, not bad for a 30 day one, wasnt nearly as damaging as more professional ones but its not suppose to be as it only lasts 30 days & not 3 months, even if try to use it following the directions of the 3month treatments it dosent help making it last longer, just dont shampoo as often, the more you wash your hair the faster it wears off

My hair is not really problematic. Sure it gets frizzy sometimes, and yes it's a little damaged from the ends because living in general tends to do that, but really, I just like for it to look orderly and healthy which this product seemed to champion. So my expectations buying this product was that it would make my hair look healthy (shiny), make it stronger, softer, and easier to manage. Reasonable expectations. Nothing crazy and no radical changes. That said, I've been using the product for a month and I can't tell the difference between my hair now and my hair before it started. It looks and feels the same and hasn't really improved its manageability. I mean, it didn't make my hair worse either, or make my hair smell funny or anything like that, but definitely no improvements for such an expensive product.
I gave the product two stars because I didn't see an improvement with my hair, but also didn't make my hair worse (which apparently did happen with some people).
Also, the bottle it comes in is such an awkward shape that I had a really hard time applying the product because I couldn't get a good grip on the bottle. Seriously. Really inconvenient and super annoying.

One filter will reduce enough light for you to open up the aperture bigger while allowing some motion blurs under a bright sun.

Two filters stacked will reduce the exposure to anywhere from 3 seconds to 20 seconds shooting waterfalls, waves and streets under a bright sun. Pointing at the sky, the exposure goes down to a second or less, so basically you can't blur the clouds motion in daylight.

One note though, stacking filters might create black vignetting at the corners on some wide-angle lenses. It works fine at 18mm with the Canon 18-55mm kit lens.

I've put this filter on many Canon lenses and it's worked just fine with no perceivable loss in image quality EXCEPT on one lens.

For about a week, I used this off and on a 24-105/4L IS. Near the end of the week I noticed a faint scratch/abrasion in the dead center of the filter as well as on the front element of the lens. Thus, I stopped using it (on the trip). When I returned to civilization and the land of the internet, I did some searching and found quite a few other folks (on dpreviewDOTcom) complaining about the same issue with the Tiffen filter and their 24-105/4L lens.

All in all, I'd recommend this filter, but try it on all the lenses you intend to use to make sure there's some clearance between the filter and the front element.

Great filter, easy to use. It came and the case it was in had been damaged (closing clasp had broken) but it had not opened. The filter had a lot of dust on it, which was easilly remidied with a quick puff of the blower. I have gotten good results with this, it works as intended and gives me the 3 stops it advertises. I bought 2 of these so I can do a 6 stops. I cannot see any optical issues with the filter (even with using both of them simultaneously), so it is a great one in my book!

These filters reduce the amount of light passing through the camera lens without changing the color of the scene. They are especially useful in bright light conditions to help prevent overexposure. Neutral Density filters also allow proper exposure at a wider lens opening for reduced depth-of-field to highlight a key subject by making the foreground and/or background out of focus.
